All applicants are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships. No separate application is required. Merit scholarship recipients are notified at the same time that they are admitted.

Joseph Wright Alsop (PhB 1898) Memorial Scholarship

The Joseph Wright Alsop Memorial Fund was established in 1976 to honor the memory of Mr. Alsop, who was an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1898 and President of the Covenant Group. The fund supports an annual scholarship that is awarded without restriction to an incoming student of merit.

The Professor David Berg Leadership Scholarship

The Professor David Berg Leadership Scholarship Fund was established anonymously in 2006 to honor David Berg, who was a professor at Yale SOM from 1977 to 1992. This annual scholarship is awarded to support "an incoming student who has demonstrated, in his or her years since college graduation, a commitment to improving both the humaneness and effectiveness of organizational life through personal and institutional self scrutiny."

Donald G. Borg Fellowship

The Donald G. Borg Scholarship Fund was established in 1977 to honor the memory of Mr. Borg, who was an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1928. The fund supports an annual scholarship that is awarded without restriction to an incoming student of merit.

Roberts W. Brokaw Free-Enterprise Fund

Mr. Brokaw YC '72, GRD '72 established the Roberts W. Brokaw Free-Enterprise Fund in 2004. The purpose of the Roberts W. Brokaw Free-Enterprise Fund is to support recent Yale College graduates of exceptional promise and creativity who, as MBA candidates, are selected for the Silver Scholars program at Yale SOM and who have plans to pursue studies related to the corporate sector.

George G. Brooks Jr. Fellowship

The George G. Brooks, Jr. Fellowship Fund was established in 1977 to honor the memory of Mr. Brooks, who was an alumnus of the Yale College Class of 1931. The fund supports an annual scholarship that is awarded without restriction to an incoming student of merit.

Robert C. Busch Class of '54 Scholarship

Mr. Busch established the Robert C. Busch Class of 1954 Fund in 2004 in honor of his 50th Yale College Reunion. The purpose of the Robert C. Busch Class of 1954 Fund is to support "recent Yale College graduates of exceptional promise and creativity who, as MBA candidates, are selected for the Silver Scholars program at the Yale School of Management."

Laura Cha (Shi Mei Lun) Scholarship

The Laura Cha (Shi Mei Lun) Scholarship at the Yale School of Management was established by a generous donation from Ms. Laura Cha, member of the Hong Kong Government Executive Council and former vice chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission. This scholarship was created to support a promising MBA student from mainland China with financial need. It provides full tuition support for each of the two years of Yale SOM’s MBA program.

John G. Conley Scholarship

The John G. Conley Scholarship Fund was established by a generous donation from Mr. Conley, who is an alumnus of the Class of 1985. The fund supports an annual scholarship that is awarded without restriction to an incoming student of merit.

Michael P. Dowling Scholarship

The Michael P. Dowling Scholarship was established in 2005 by Mr. Dowling, who received his BS from Yale College in 1974 and his MFS/MPPM from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and Yale SOM in 1982. Mr. Dowling is currently the president of the Dowling Foundation, a small foundation established to manage his philanthropy. The foundation works primarily on natural resource and quality of life issues. In addition to his work with the Dowling Foundation, Mr. Dowling does pro bono consulting for a few, select nonprofit organizations. He is also a founding partner of Western Ranchland Investors, generators of conservation development solutions for threatened agricultural and natural landscapes. The scholarship is awarded alternately by the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and the Yale School of Management to a joint degree student.

Forté Foundation Scholarships

The Forté Scholarship program is administered by the Forté Foundation, whose mission is "to substantially increase the number of women business owners and leaders by increasing the flow of women into key educational gateways and business networks."

Frederick Frank Fellowship for Language Study

The Frederick Frank Fellowships for Language Study Fund was established in 1992 by Mr. Frank, who is vice chairman at Lehman Brothers, a 1954 alumnus of Yale College, and a member of the Yale SOM Advisory Board. The scholarship is "based on the conviction that organizations are becoming increasingly multinational, and that some of the most exciting opportunities are in the global arena." To that end, Mr. Frank established the Fund to "encourage and help students to prepare for leadership positions in a world where national borders are giving way to a truly global economy."

Janet (Ginger) Gelb Scholarship

The Janet (Ginger) Gelb Scholarship Fund was established in 1992 to honor the memory of Ms. Gelb, who was a 1984 alumna of Yale SOM. The fund supports an annual scholarship that is awared to a woman of particular promise at Yale SOM.

H. Stuart Harrison Fellowship

The H. Stuart Harrison Fund was established in 1980 by Mr. Harrison, who was an alumnus of the Yale College Class of 1932. The fund supports annual scholarships that are awarded without restriction to incoming students of merit.

John Hechinger Scholarship

The Hechinger Scholarship Fund at the School of Management was established in 1983 by John W. Hechinger, who is an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1941. The fund supports annual scholarships that are awarded to students at Yale SOM from the metro Washington, D.C. area, with a preference for students of African American descent.

Frederick T. Holliday & Frederick T. Holliday, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

The Frederick T. Holliday and Frederick T. Holliday, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by their family in 1963 to honor their memories. Mr. Holliday and his son were graduates of the Yale Class of 1920 and 1945, respectively. The fund supports an annual scholarship that is awarded to a student of merit from the midwest.

Jess Morrow Johns Memorial Scholarship for Advertising and Marketing

The Jess Morrow Johns Memorial Scholarship for Advertising and Marketing Fund was established in 1983 to honor the memory of Mr. Johns, who was an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1947. The fund supports an annual scholarship that is awarded to an incoming student of merit in the field of advertising or marketing.

Michael H. Jordan '57 Diversity Initiative Fellowship

The Michael H. Jordan ’57 Diversity Fund was established by a generous donation from Mr. Jordan, who is an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1957 and chairman and CEO of Electronic Data Systems Corporation. The Fund supports an annual scholarship to promote diversity at Yale SOM.

Richard Kauffman and Ellen Jewett Scholarship

The Kauffman/Jewett Scholarship Fund was established in 2004 by Richard L. Kauffman and Ellen Jewett. The fund supports annual scholarships to promote diversity at Yale SOM.

Kasem Lamsam and William Ligon Scholarship

The Kasem Lamsam and William Ligon Scholarship Fund was established in 2004 by W. Austin Ligon, Class of 1980 and co-founder and retired president and CEO of Carmax, Inc., and Samornmitr Lamsam, Yale College Class of 1976 and SOM Class of 1980, to honor the memories of their fathers. The fund supports annual scholarships that are awarded without restriction to incoming students of merit.

Irene A. Loukides Scholarship

The Irene Loukides Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 to honor the memory of Ms. Loukides, a longtime Yale SOM employee and an enthusiastic, dedicated supporter of the school. The fund supports an annual scholarship that is awarded without restriction to an incoming student of merit.

David I. Mazer Scholarship

The David I. Mazer Scholarship Fund was established in 1979 by Mr. Mazer, who is an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1950. The fund supports an annual scholarship that is awarded without restriction to an incoming student of merit.

H. Hugh McConnell Scholarship

The H. Hugh McConnell Scholarship Fund was established in 1960 to honor the memory of Mr. McConnell, who was an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1932. The fund supports an annual scholarship that is awarded without restriction to an incoming student of merit.

Joseph C. McNay Fellowship in Finance

The Joseph C. McNay Fellowship in Finance Fund was established in 1987 by Mr. McNay, who was an alumnus of the Yale College Class of 1956 and chairman and president of the Essex Investment Management Company. The fund supports an annual scholarship that is awarded to an incoming student of merit in the field of finance.

Gordon and Betty Moore Fellowship

The Moore Fellows Program seeks well-qualified candidates to undertake the three-year, joint degree program at the School of Management and the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Successful applicants will receive full tuition and living expenses for each of the three years of the program. In addition, funding is provided for at least one summer internship to be carried out with a Moore Foundation grantee organization in the Andes-Amazon region.

Donald Rappaport '47 and Susan Rappaport Scholarship

The Donald Rappaport '47 and Susan Rappaport Scholarship Fund was established in 2007. The fund supports an annual scholarship that is awarded without restriction to an incoming student of merit.

RealNetworks Women in Business and Technology

The RealNetworks Women in Business and Technology Scholarship will be awarded to support women interested in entrepreneurial or innovation studies.

John F. Riddell Memorial Fellowship

The John F. Riddell Memorial Fund was established in 1979 to honor the memory of Mr. Riddell, who was an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1913 and the owner of the Riddell Petroleum Company in New York. The fund supports two annual scholarships that are awarded without restriction to incoming students of merit.

Betsy Rotman Pace and William Baldwin Pace '80

The Betsy Rotman Pace and William Baldwin Pace '80 Scholarship Fund was established in 2004 by Mr. and Mrs. Pace, who are graduates of the Class of 1980. Mrs. Pace is the former CEO of OnLive Technologies; Mr. Pace is the CEO of Kurt Salmon Associates, a leading management consulting firm. He is also a member of the Yale SOM Board of Advisors and the Yale Center for Customer Insights. The fund supports an annual scholarship that is awarded without restriction to an incoming student of merit.

Richard A. Robertson, III Fellowship

The Richard A. Robertson, III (PhB 1921) Fellowship Fund was established in 1977 to honor the memory of Mr. Robertson, who was an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1921. The fund supports an annual scholarship that is awarded without restriction to an incoming student of merit.

Samuel B. Sutphin Fellowship

The Samuel B. Sutphin Scholarship Fund was established in 1984 to honor the memory of Mr. Sutphin, who was an alumnus of the Yale Class of 1899. The fund supports an annual scholarship that is awarded without restriction to an incoming student of merit.

Teach For America Scholarship

Given their similar missions and common interest in developing leaders who will improve the world around them, Yale SOM and Teach for America (TFA) have teamed up to establish a merit scholarship for a qualified TFA alumnus to attend the Yale School of Management.

G. Harold Welch Scholarship

The G. Harold Welch Fund was established in 1987 by Mr. Welch to bring together Yale and the New Haven community by providing financial assistance to an incoming student of merit from the New Haven area.

West Point Memorandum of Agreement

Given the nature of educational excellence at the United States Military Academy and Yale SOM, the schools have entered into an agreement by which up to two active-duty military officers designated for three-year teaching positions at the USMA will receive a significantly reduced tuition to earn their MBA at Yale SOM.

Kevin Y. Zhang Scholarship

The Kevin Y. Zhang Scholarship at the Yale School of Management was established by a donation from Mr. Zhang ’94, managing director of Asia Special Situations Group with Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong. This award provides half tuition support for each of the two years of Yale SOM’s MBA program. Having been a mainland Chinese student at Yale SOM himself, Mr. Zhang hopes that through his scholarship he can give other mainland students access to the same range of opportunities that he enjoyed.
