Alumni Career Search Manual
The Alumni Career Search Manual was written from a post-MBA mid career perspective. Sections on career transitioning, networking, working with executive recruiters, and negotiation are all designed to address important aspects of the mid career job search.
Although this manual can be used as a stand alone resource, we recognize that not every situation that you encounter can be covered in sufficient detail. We encourage you to read this manual, to complete the exercises in it, and to use the related resources.
If you feel that you need more assistance the Career Development Office offers one-on-one career coaching to all SOM alumni. Schedule a meeting with a Career Counselor.

Career Resources
Many excellent resources are available on-line and are free of charge. These websites can help you to research jobs by title and by industry. The job boards can also provide, in some cases, valuable salary information. This on-line handbook provided by the Bureau of Labor Statistics contains previews of a wide variety of careers and their related industries and can be a valuable resource for those interested in transitioning careers. This resource can be used together with the Occupational Outlook Handbook. Just as the Occupational Outlook Handbook can identify positions in broader terms, O*Net can pinpoint more industry-specific titles.Monster.com; Hot jobs.Com; 6figurejobs.com; Career builder.com
These job boards can serve as an enormous resource for people looking to compare job descriptions and get a good idea of what kinds of jobs exist in other companies and industries.
This page contains links to organizations, placements agencies, and websites that are dedicated to women in the workforce, women who are seeking re-entry in the workforce, and to working mothers who might like to engage in flexible professional work arrangements.
