Bill is a 2009 Encore Fellow with Civic Ventures in San Francisco. Previously, he was the chief executive officer of Kurt Salmon Associates (KSA), an international, multidisciplinary management consulting firm focused on the consumer and healthcare industries.
Bill recently retired as the chief executive officer of Kurt Salmon Associates (KSA), an international, multidisciplinary management consulting firm focused on the consumer and healthcare industries. Prior to KSA, he was a founding partner of Swander Pace & Company, a leading strategy consulting firm serving manufacturers and retailers of consumer products, which merged with KSA in 2000. Before Swander Pace & Company, Bill was a partner at Edgar Dunn & Company, a general management consulting firm in San Francisco, and a senior consultant with Pappas Carter Evans & Koop, the Australian operation of the Boston Consulting Group.
With more than 25 years of consulting experience, both in the U.S. and internationally, Bill has focused on assisting consumer product companies with developing and implementing revenue growth strategies. He has been particularly active in serving as a merger and acquisition advisor on numerous acquisitions, ranging in size from $20 million to more than $6 billion.
Bill is also a founding limited partner of Swander Pace Capital (SPC), a $625 million private equity firm focused on buy-outs of small and mid-sized consumer product companies. He has served as a member of SPC’s Investment Committee and as a board member/observer at several portfolio companies.
Bill’s community activities include serving as chair of the advisory board for the Yale Center for Customer Insights (YCCI).
He received an MBA from the Yale School of Management, an MA in education from Claremont University Center, and a BA with dual majors in history and literature from Claremont McKenna College. Bill and his wife, Betsy (SOM ’80), have two daughters, Elizabeth and Alison.
